Connor finds a little friend on the beach

We decided to stay in Bimini for a day  to relax and to wait out the front that was going to pass through.  In the early morning (5am) the wind kicked up but was finished by 9am.  The rest of the day was very great.  After school-time, we took a dinghy ride up the middle of Bimini to see if there was any sandy area that we could pull the dinghy on and swim.  Nothing was found, but it was a nice ride anyway.  We were hoping for something on the inside as the wind was now coming from the north which made for a rough swim in the surf on the Florida Strait side.  The boys loved it, however.   Very large waves and lots of jumping in them.  Connor got his boogie board out as well to 'surf' the waves.  Later on, the other kids joined up an they all bobbed up and down in the waves.  We took
them back to de-sand themselves in the pool area.  It looks as we may pull out tomorrow.  The wind is supposed to be more favourable to cross over the banks.  If we leave it a day, we will have to motor.  It will be a very long day and we will just end up on the banks for the night.  Our destination will be Nassau in 2 days.  Then a day to the top of the Exumas.

  1. From Silverheels III Nice going hi5! Nassau is your last good stop to stock up with groceries and boat stuff. Georgetown at the bottom end of Exumas will be the only other good place for that. If stopping after the banks the anchorage right in front of Chubb Cay is poor so you will have to use the marina ($$$) or anchor around the corner at Frazer Hog or Bird Cay.

  2. From Hi-5 - Thanks Silverheels lll - we did end up at the anchorage in front of the marina. It's a perfect stopover for the NE wind. We were thinking of checking out Frazer Hog too...but, it doesn't seem to offer any protection at the moment. We will look up Bird Cay as well. We were thinking of heading towards Nassau tomorrow...thanks again for all of your input.
