Another relaxing day in paradise. We came to shore to chat with the only other family here from Quebec. The other boats left this morning, so we are again one of the sole boats here at Warderick. We have made contact with Cee Jem and Dharma who were travelled with a few weeks ago. They may arrive in a day or two, but the final destination will be Staniel Cay for all of us for Christmas. Our highlights today were hiking one of the many trails on the island to a nice secluded beach. The trail is very rough - moonscape-like which made it challenging, but it was well worth it in the end. Also, Connor and I finished off our Boo Boo Hill boat sign. It is customary for each boat to leave something on Boo Boo Hill on a piece of drift wood. We hiked up the hill at the end of the day to add ours to the pile.

"Chubby Pickup!" You'll understand when you get to Staniel Cay. ;-)
ReplyDeleteWe anchored right beside the entrance to "Thunderball Cave." You'll love it there. Bring breadcrumbs/cooked rice for the fish inside. Carefull with the fingers, they're a little rowdy. Your lookbucket will work well around the cave's entrance. If you anchor or dinghy to Piggy Beach take fruit/veggies or potatoes. They will happily swim out to greet you and perhaps jump into the dinghy. Another rowdy bunch. Piggy Beach has a lovely bonfire area at the left end for early evening entertainment. SH3
Bitter Guana Cay is the very next cay, just an hour south of Staniel Cay. It's a great anchorage under high white cliffs, with Tropic-birds soaring overhead. Nice sandy beach and only a short stroll across the cay to a wild Atlantic beach. You may well meet one of the medium-sized iguanas who frequent the place. Not many boats go there, so it's very quiet.
