The mail boat did not arrive yesterday. Since we are now heading up to the northern Exumas we are probably 2 weeks without seeing a grocery store. We we just had to stick around another day. We ended up hanging around the boat until the scheduled mail boat was to arrive. We thought we would finally head over to deShamons restaurant to sample their pizza. Apparently one of the local ladies, who is from the USA originally, taught them how to put together pizzas to appeal to the cruising community. We sat down and shortly after she came by to see what we wanted. We told her that we were excited to finally sample her famous pizza. But, sadly, we were told that the pizza would have to wait. She was out of cheese and it would be coming on the mailboat. "that's fine", we said, "perhaps we would just pass the time with a beer. "sorry", she said. "we are out of that too". They had been without the mailboat a week longer than usual. When the boat finally arrived there was a train of people on foot, golf carts, bikes and pick up trucks all heading to pick up their load. We had to go down and check it out! After that excitement we finally settled in for our pizza. It was a couple of hours later, but we were thrilled anyway. Mario, a local man with a mental delay/non-verbal who we have befriended in the community
joined our family. Connor has been great with him and has enjoyed many games of cards....no rules, just cards slapping down on the table ...with Mario, his style. We will miss him tomorrow when we go.
